Dr. Frank Koe
Dr. Frank Koe is a professor of engineering entrepreneurship at the School of Engineering, Design, Technology and Professional Programs at The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Koe played a role when Penn State started a concerted effort to address entrepreneurship across all of its 21 Pennsylvania 21 campuses in 2014. He helped establish the 18-credit intercollege minor in entrepreneurship at Penn State and helped in the development of incubators on all campuses in support of the expanding entrepreneurial ecosystem. To this day, Dr. Koe is helping in managing the curriculum for the minor as well as working as a consultant and mentor to student startups within the incubator or the University Park Campus LaunchBox.
During his stay at Penn State, Dr. Koe was also invited to create and develop the first eco-preneurship course at Columbia University, New York City. The course was entitled Sustainable Entrepreneurship and offered as partial fulfilment for the Master of Science in Sustainability Management from The Earth Institute where the graduate students were encouraged to come up with creative solutions to society’s most pressing problems.
Dr. Koe also led the award-winning team of senior students in the Idea Pitch Competition, hosted by Penn State's Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Smeal College of Business. He is also a member of the Center on Research in Design and Innovation (CRDI) that conducts interdisciplinary research and offers workshops on the design process and practice. Dr. Koe is also a member of the graduate committee who develops a program of study in intrapreneurship.
Dr. Koe was also former Acting Dean of the Baker School of Business and Technology at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He also served as the former Director of the Executive MBA and Executive Education at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Dr. Koe is also the Founder and Principal of Whipple D Productions, Inc. which is a sporting goods accessory company. The company was founded in 1996 and it is still running today. Dr. Koe also has numerous national and international consulting assignments. His most recent international experience was through an invitation by the American Councils for International Education in Washington, DC. It was a one-week consulting work in Moscow, held last May 2018 where he spoke about entrepreneurship to 12 different university representatives.
Dr. Koe obtained his Bachelor of Science in English and American History from The Pennsylvania State University. He then obtained his Master of Science in Human Growth and Development from the University of Delaware. Finally, Dr. Koe obtained his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Koe will be virtually deployed at Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City for the 2020 Visiting Professors activity.
